Gangsta: ANIME REVIEW

Okay, I really don't know how I am seeing right now, because you have no idea how sick I am. But since I haven't written in some time I said: "Come on Lejla, you can do it", and yeah. Here I am on this lazy Sunday evening writing a review on a new anime that finished airing just today. I asked other anime lovers whether they have watched this anime or not, and as expected 64% of all answers in my poll were YES! The anime became immediately popular, and as I saw its popularity in forums and communities I knew I had to watch it. So here it is, for all you anime lovers, my review on GANGSTA!

Plot and Story Line

The whole Gangsta story is set in a small town named Ergastulum. When it comes to the city, it is a very dark, shady ville full of thieves, whores, corrupt cops and gangs. I think you all can imagine it in one way. In the heart of the story we have the two main characters: Worick and Nicolas. Two partners that do all kinds of odd jobs that nobody else wants to do. Now the thing that makes Gangsta different from other shows are Twilights. Twilights posses enchanted abilities due to their predecessors' use of Celebrer (some kind of drug). They are noted for being incredibly violent and destructive and as such mostly hired for killing jobs. One of the Twilights in this anime is also Nick.
In the show, a new character is introduced right in the beginning. A prostitute called Alex. She meets after Worick and Nick were assigned to kill Alex's boss. In the end Alex ends up as the one killing her boss, and kinda teaming up with Worick and Nick.
I know you might be asking "Is that it?", and yeah that's basically it. That's the whole plot, but it is not a bad one. Here's why.
The plot and story line are really slow. It is a step by step, firstly character introduction, then a "setting introduction" and at some points a flash-back story. The story gets all interesting in the ninth episode when so called "Anti-Twilights" appear. A battle between them starts and is still ongoing but the first season ended today. There are still no information about season two, but have hope, because the anime is actually manga based. We don't know for sure, but I think that season two will be aired because of the huge popularity that this anime has. "Fingers crossed".
Now the main thing that kept me watching Gangsta. The flashbacks and backstories. The story about Worick and Nick and how they meet is outstanding. I loved it and it really gets emotional in some parts. It's a story about friendship, humanity and family relations, so I recommend you not to miss it. There are also two more backstories that have my attention. The first one  is the backstory of Delico (Twilight) and his sibling sister Erica (Anti-twilight). I just think that for now the anime didn't give them the limelight they deserve. One more is also a sibling story, but now of Alex and her brother Emilio. These two backgroundstories have on thing in common (except the sibling part). They are still unfinished and left some questions in the first season, and that's exactly why I think that we can hope for a second season to air.
Also an important thing that has to be mentioned is that this anime is perfect for all you action lovers out there. Epic and interesting fights. Guns, axes, swords...There are all kinds of weapons. It has some bloodshed, but  hey, as if you are not used to it.

Characters

The characters in Gangsta are just a bunch of badass gangsters, killer machines and ordinary characters that are there "just because". Some of them develop in one or the other way, and some of them are interesting due to their past, Delico for instance. Now here for you our two main guys, and my personal favorite in the show

Worick Arcangelo is a damn clever and brilliant person. In his cruel childhood he escaped his horrible reality trough books. Now he possesses the ability to read incredibly fast and the ability of photographic memory. Although being rich and having everything "served on a silver-plate" he just wanted a place to belong to. He finds a place next to Nick, or so he thinks. But does he really belongs in the world of Twilights by pretending or acting like one?

NIckolas (Nick) Brown. This guy is a Twilight. He is an incredible fighter and a killer machine, but he has a huge heart. A very considerate and nice person but not looking like one. The most interesting thing about Nick is his inability to talk. The way he uses sing language to communicate and how others interact with him is awesome. He is a "Fake", meaning he reaches his tag of A/0 by overdosing. He is actually ranked as B/5. Still his swordsman skills are outstanding. I loved seeing him fight.

Doug looks like a 14-year-old kid, but is actually a grown up. Looking innocent but actually wearing an A/0 Tag. Quite dangerous. Doug is a side-character in Gangsta but I loved him because he looks so cute but is a killer machine in the same time. I have the feeling that I just want to squeeze his cheeks and say: "You little devil, stop killing people". I just wish we could have seen more of him in Gangsta.

Animation and Style

Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to 2015. You can clearly see the difference, or easier said, the better animation in the anime of 2014/2015. Gangsta is one of those. Awesome animation. Smooth, good contrast, clear, good colors and outline. In short, I loved it.
The style is also from a new generation. The high contrast shadows gave it a good taste and the good work with details made it incredible.
Now one more thing that has to be mentioned is definitely the music. It is epic. As an example I have here the link to the opening theme song. Opening Link. It is catchy and the only anime-opening I didn't skip while watching.

Conclusion

Conclusions were always my favorite part of every speech, essay and review because I put all my thoughts in a few sentences and as if you will remember everything you read above.
Now to conclude, Gangsta is a dark anime that tells a story about friendship and humanity. It is realistic in some parts but becomes an "anime" after some time. Full of action, heart breaking stories and interesting characters. I rate it as a 8.45, minus points for the slow story development, but on the whole definitely worth watching it. I'd give it a try!

Kaze No Stigma/ Stigma of the Wind: ANIME REVIEW

When I became a "full-time" AnimeGirl I was kinda just searching for anime that involved powers (It was a period of "After-Avatar-depression").There were anime like: Code:Breaker, Toaru Kagaku no Railgun and the best of all and my favorite "Four-element-powers" anime Kaze no Stigma or in English The Stigma of the Wind. So for you, on this lovely Monday afternoon, a review on Kaze no Stigma.

Plot and Story-Line

I'll begin right away with the plot. In the middle of the story we have the Kannagi family. A respected family of fire element users. Eighteen-year-old Kazuma was originally part of the Kannagis, but after he showed no affinity to fire as a power and after the defeat by his four year younger cousin Ayano he was banished and cast out from the family. Four years passed, and Kazuma finally decided to come back to Japan, under the name Kazuma Yagami stronger than ever. While he was away he made a contract with the Wind-spirit and became an extraordinary wind user. With his arrival several murders in the Kannagi family occurred, and as expected, they all accused Kazuma. As a result he is confronted by various members of his former family and forced to prove his innocence. Yet, the only person Kazuma wants to fight is his father, the strongest Enjustsu (power to control flames). After he defeats his father, and goes back to the hotel, he meets his younger brother Ren, also an Enjutsu user. Later on Ren was taken by a powerful demon and in wish to help his little brother he decides to meet the head of the Kanagi, Ayano's father, and convince him that he is innocent. Once again Kazuma is reunited with his brother Ren and cousin Ayano, and yeah...That's when the whole story turns into an action loaded, little romance-comedy, that has a cute little background story that reveals it-self in the very end of the show.
I told you in the beginning, the main reason why I like this anime are the powers. I love element-based powers. The action in this anime is awesome. And although the fights are a little bit predictable they are still catchy and really give you the promised entertainment. I liked it.
In some parts of the story, Kaze no Stigma becomes a "slice of life-romance" anime, but it is not such a big waste. It is funny and entertaining especially in the Kazuma/Ayano moments. It's mostly funny because of Ayano's tsundere personality, but more of it in the character section.
The thing I found most interesting in this anime is definitely the background story of Kazuma while he was away, and how it affects his present. The story about his character development, about finding him-self, about moving on and letting go of the strings from the past. That's definitely the message of this anime "Let go of the past, and live in the present".
There is really not much to talk about the story, because it is not that special. Mainly predictable but gets entertaining from time to time. Still, I liked it and would give the whole story a 7,67.

Characters

I loved KAZUMA. He is one of that strong, main characters that still have some flaws in their personality. There is something that can be developed in the story, and that's the thing characters are there for. The fight with his own past was so interesting and kept you on tenterhooks the whole time. It got a bit emotional in some parts, but not too much, and that's exactly how I like it. Kazuma is strong, funny, cool and amusing. Nothing special but awesome for the story.

Oh there she is, AYANO. She was so amusing because of her tsundere-like personality. I found them always funny. The way she wants to hide her feelings for Kazuma, oh come one, we can see that one. Kawaii. Ayano is a strong and independent character that hates to say when she needs help. And stubborn btw. Yet, she knows her obligations, and although she is a bit childish she can be mature if needed.

Animation and Style

Amm...there is really nothing special I could say about the animation. You can clearly see that it's still 2007. It is not bad, just like the animation of every other anime. Still I love this picture and I am sure that everyone has seen it before somewhere. I mean it is beautiful, isn't it?
When it comes to the style I have to say that the makers did a great job. The different powers were so awesome. I mean the basics were there air and wind for instance. But Ayano's crimson flames and then the black wind power of Kazuma, epic. The style got a 8,79.

Conclusion

If you want some action and you miss Avatar: The Last Air-bender this is an anime for you. It is catchy, amusing and entertaining. I really recommend you to give it a try because I think you won't regret it. You have some awesome characters, some epic fights and interesting powers. Not that unique but definitely good.

No Game No Life: ANIME REVIEW

Games make you stupid they say. Games harm they say. I say that "they" would change their mind after watching this anime. An anime that increases your IQ by at least 10%. Today's review, a short and unfinished (waiting for season 2) anime on the title "No Game No Life".

Plot and Story Line

First thing I want to tell you about NGNL is how I've watched it. I stopped after four episodes because, I don't know, it wasn't that special. Luckily I don't give up that easily and after I started again and finished the fifth episode, well I couldn't stop. Although it was the first day of school the next day, I had to finish it., and yeah. I went to sleep at about 2:00 AM. But definitely worth it. The story is awesome, catchy and one of the most interesting storylines I've ever seen.
Now, the story is basically about two need siblings, Sora, the older brother and Shiro his little sister. They escape their usual life trough the huge world of Games. They play all kinds of games, card games, board games, video games...And most importantly they always win as the couple known as "Blank". One day they get an invitation to a chess game, and as expected they win. Soon after they are transported to another world by Ted, the god of Games. In that new world everything is decided by, guess what, of course, games. Whether it's about a coin or a war between countries, games decide the outcome. Just a right place for the siblings that really aim their goals very high: their final goal, defeat Ted and become the new Gods of Games. But will they succeed or not? We don't know because the first season finished half-way and we are still waiting for season two to air. The makers are sure keeping us on tenterhooks.
First thing that has to be mentioned as a part of the whole plot is the sibling relationship. Forget all sibling relationships that you saw before because this one will top them all. It is not a sad story, nor did they have a hard childhood. It's just so funny and cute. I mean they are so used to each other that they can't even be one minute away from each other. Just KAWAII. They would probably be nothing without each other. It's like they fill up the emptiness of the other one. They would be nothing without each other.
But now the thing that really makes the whole anime so special. The intellect, the strategies, the plans and brilliance are incomparable with any other anime (well maybe code geass). Both of them Shiro and Sora are masterminds in their own class. Working as Blank together they are invincible. Every strategy and plan, and every single move is being explained in details. That's the thing I was talking about in the beginning that increases your IQ.It is sooooo interesting to listen to their explanations and make everytime :"Ooooh, that's what he did" in the end. Sooo amusing, I promise you that.
When it comes to the storyline it really has no flaws at all. No plot holes, no stupid twists and it keeps your attention till the end. In short, please release the second season!

Characters:

This dude is so damn funny. Although SORA is a little pervert I liked him. He is a typical NEET yet brilliant when it comes to strategy and plans. He is very communicative and outgoing, and energic. He has that sudden reactions and emotion-breakouts that make him so interesting. Yet, the most important reason I liked Sora is how he takes care for his little sister. Too cute!

This girl looks like an emotionless doll, or more a very intelligent robot. SHIRO does not show that much feelings but damn she is smart. She is so good at numbers and and logical problems making her solve almost everything. It was so hilarious to see how her brother-complex awakens when Sora talks with other girls. Jealousy was always a funny thing. Kawaii, little genius.

Animation and Style

Now this is definitely something different. The animation of NGNL fit perfectly with its story. The style, the colors, the brightness...It was just perfect. And the character design, epic. I mean, the characters just look like they should. It's like their personalities were pictured in human form. I hope you get me. :D You probably open some pictures before you go and watch an anime, here is one screen-shot of Disboard  for you...

Conclusion:

No Game No Life is not an actual action anime. So if you want a lot of action this is not for you. But I promise you, it's worth every single second because it's so interesting and catchy. I love anime where the main characters are masterminds that entertain you using only their cleverness and wittiness. That's why I love NGNL. It's not one of my favorites but, in my opinion, definitely deserves a rating of, let's say 8,46.
