Anime Battle (Fate/ Zero vs. Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works)

This will with great extend be my favorite Anime battle. The same setting, the same producers and the same studios. Still, here they are ready to battle in 3 categories: Plot and Story Line, Animation and Style and Characters. Give it up for today's anime battle:

Fate/ Zero vs. Fate/ Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works. Enjoy!

PLOT AND STORY LINE

As most of you might know, both UBW (Unlimited Blade Works) and Zero have the same story setting, being the Holy Grail War. A battle royale between seven mages, the masters and their seven servants. Each master has the right to summon a servant, a Heroic Spirit from the past that fights for them in the war. There are in total seven different servant classes: Archer, Saber, Caster, Rider, Lancer, Assassin and Berserker. The setting of the Fate series is with great extend the best story I have ever seen. The way they merge legends and heroes from the past like Alexander the Great, Gilgamesh, King Arthur etc. into a magic fantasy world is just amazing.

When it comes to the individual stories they are quite different. Fate/ Zero doesn't actually have a big story around a particular character. Its story is the setting and it doesn't actually concentrate on only one character, at least not in the beginning. You don't have an obvious main character and so the story is less predictable but more thrilling. It concentrates on each character  and even though it is a shorter anime, you get the feeling that you had watched it for years because you get to know each character in detail. The story is deep, with a dark and mature tone, unlike the sequel Unlimited Blade Works.

Years later, after the happenings of Fate/ Zero, UBW starts off with Shirou as the main character. Now we have a main character and the story is about his way of becoming a hero and staying true to his ideals. Unfortunately, the story of UBW is in contrast to the story of Zero rather poor. There is no much development and it only focuses on that one stupid yet over powered main character (more about it in character discussion). that accidently enters the Holy Grail War and the actual heroine that always saves the day in the end, Rin.  Zero did things different and still made the best of every single second of the anime. The story is amazing whereas the story of UBW is just good.
So we get to the end of the first round with a clear winner-Fate/ Zero.

CHARACTERS

This is the category in which these two anime differ the most. Starting with Fate/ Zero. This anime should serve as an example of how to make characters. Every single one of them has a background story and an actual character and personality. They all contribute to the story and none is left out. They all have depth in their character and actually carry the story and develop it. My two favorites were definitely the servants Gilgamesh and Iskandar. As I hinted before for UBW, they really did screw up the characters. First of all, the main character. Shirou is just another overpowered yet stupid character that becomes the hero of the show for no reason. The female lead, Rin, is much stronger and independent, but ends up being just a random tsundere sidekick. There is little character development that resulted in a non-sense ending. Why? Well...

***SPOILER ALERT***

The makers had to make Shirou the hero of the story and so gave the only original character in the anime, Gilgamesh, a pitiful death. His death was a huge non-sense because Gilgamesh had the potential to kill Shirou however he wanted.

***END OF SPOILER***

As for the other characters...Well ,what other characters? other characters weren't given the chance for any development and you actually never get to know them.
I think it is pretty obvious who the winner is: Fate/ Zero.

ANIMATION

If there is one anime I want to watch again just because of the animation than it is UBW. I mean, it is breathtaking just as every other ufotable animation, so Fate/ Zero's. Still, I think UBW has a little better animation but only for a little bit. The reason for that is most probably because Zero has a dull and darker setting than UBW. UBW had the chance to impress us with bright colors. Still both anime have smooth motions, amazing fight sequences and epic backgrounds. And so, the winner is Unlimited Blade Works.

CONCLUSION

The battle royale between two of the best anime I have ever seen. On one side, Fate/ Zero which intrigued us with an interesting story line and amazing characters whereas Unlimited Blade Works took our breath with its animation. In the end, with a win of 2:1 the winner of this battle: Fate/ Zero. I hope you enjoyed and see you in the next battle. If you have an idea of who an amazing battle duo might be, let me know in the comment section bellow.

Things I Loved about Certain Anime the Most

You know that each anime has something that makes it worth watching and unique like a good plot-twist, character style, setting etc. I recently went trough my anime list and picked a couple of anime for this post where I'll tell what I loved most about them. Tell me in the comments below more examples that I might left out. And now, Things I Loved about Certain Anime the Most.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
AKAME GA KILL- This anime is a fantasy and action anime that connects reality to its story setting like no other. The setting of a corrupted and harsh world was literary reflected into a fantasy world like Akame ga Kill.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
AKATSUKI NO YONA- Of course my favorite anime will be in this post. The thing I loved the most about Yona's story is the legend. The story of naive, little Princess Yona has an intriguing and fantastic setting of a legend about four dragons and an ancient King.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ERASED- I definitely didn't like the Japanese name of this anime. But the thing I did like was the thrill and excitement that this anime conveyed throughout the whole anime.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DEATH PARADE- This anime was one of the best I have ever seen. The thing I liked the most about it was definitely the psychological factor that in an entertaining way revealed the core of human soul and nature.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FATE/ZERO- This anime has so much good points because it is truly a masterpiece. What I liked the most is the fact that you don't have an obvious main character, well at least not in the beginning. This made the show more interesting and less predictable.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FATE/ UBW- It is hard to tell which one is better. Fate Zero or Unlimited Blade Works. It will need a greater discussion so look forward to another anime battle here on WoAG. But the thing about UBW I liked the most was definitely ufutable's gorgeous and unbelievable animation.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
KARA NO KYOUKAI- The movie anime in 7 parts was really intriguing and exciting. What made it unique was the retrospective way of telling the story and that is definitely the thing I liked the most about it.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NO GAME NO LIFE- This anime is a really popular 2014 anime that I liked so much because of all the game strategies and extremely entertaining and mind blowing matches.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ONE PUNCH MAN- This is the most hyped anime in the last decade if I remember well. In the beginning, I didn't like the fact that it doesn't have a good story but hey, it is OPM and the most important thing about it was that it had a huge entertainment factor.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PSYCHO PASS- This masterpiece is one of my favorite anime ever and the thing I liked most about it was the villain. Psycho Pass' Shougo Makishima is in my opinion the best villain in anime history.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
RELIFE- This is one of my favorite slice-of-life anime and I am still reading the manga, waiting for the second season of course. The best thing about this anime is that even though this is a slice-of-life it still has that pinch of fantasy in the beginning that made it even better.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
YOUR LIE IN APRIL/SHIGATSU WA KIMI NO USO- There are many things that made this masterpiece one of the best anime I have ever seen. The thing I loved most about it was its beauty. The characters, the backgrounds, the scenes...everything in this anime was just beautiful.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TALES OF ZESTIRIA THE X- I loved the setting of this anime the most. The fantasy, magic setting was...well magical and one of the most beautiful ones I have ever seen.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ZENKYOU NO TERROR- One more mystery anime whose best part were the riddles. It was really interesting and entertaining to watch the police and others try solving Nine and Twelve's riddles.

KonoSuba (Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo!): ANIME REVIEW

Konnichiwa Minna-san!
Today on World of Anime Girl, one more anime review. Recently, I've been searching for an anime with an amazing and intriguing story but a few days ago I ended up watching something completely different. But guess what... I loved it and here is the review to Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuko wo or just KonoSuba. Enjoy!

PLOT AND STORY LINE

You know all the anime about people suddenly being trapped in some online games or game like settings where they have to play that game for real in order to survive (Sword Art Online, Hai to Gensou no Grimgar etc.). Well, guess what, KonoSuba is such an anime but if you thought it is another cliche like the one mentioned above...you are wrong beacuse KonoSuba is mainly a PARODY.
After dying on a pathetic and hilarious death, high school student and recluse  Kazuma finds him self sitting in front of the beautiful goddess Aqua.  She gives him two options: to go to heaven or reincarnate into a fantasy world that every gamer, including Kazuma, always dreamed of. He of course picks the fantasy world and after being  given the chance to pick an item to take with him, he chooses Aqua. Poor Kazuma had no idea that the goddess will be useless in his quest on defeating the Demon King.

Soon upon his arrival Kazuma realizes that things are not going just as he imagined. Instead of going on adventures Kazuma and Aqua are obliged to do hard chores in order to earn some money. And their 'misadventure' has only just begun.
The thing about KonoSuba, as I mentioned in the beginning, is that it is actually just a parody on all the other anime. All the things like, an over powered main character, a female heroin that becomes his love interest, fearsome opponents etc. are just ridiculed and displayed in a hilarious way. Konosuba was fresh, new and entertaining without doing much. Although it was brilliant how they managed to make such a good parody.
The anime does have something like a story but it is not actually worth talking about. It is just there to entertain and make you laugh. And I have to say, KonoSuba succeed in both. It was a hilarious, non-sense anime that just makes your day a little bit better. An anime with a huge cheer up factor and a guarantee for laugh.
The anime does have some pretty badass fight scenes but then again most of them are just so funny that you have to watch them twice. So, in short, if you just want a relaxing and hilarious anime to watch in a day, pick KonoSuba, you won't regret it at all.

CHARACTERS

KonoSuba is an anime about a disappointed NEET reincarnated into a fantasy world, a useless and overly selfish goddess, a quite perverted and clumsy version of Saber from Fate and a little girl that is obsessed with huge explosions. What a character setting setting, don't you think? I think Konosuba is the first anime without a character development that I liked despite of that. But seriously, what kind of development is to be expected in a comedy like this one. Of course...none! The characters are perfect just as they are and I love them. Of course, my favorite character was Aqua. Goddess? Oh please, even Hestia form "Is it Wrong to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeion?"  did a better job. Still, Aqua had a couple of amazing moments which were mostly followed by disappointing endings but let's not talk about them. The queen of the show was definitely Darkness. She's the vice-versa Saber lookalike I mentioned before and man that girl nailed it. Darkness is a knight that misses every target and whose only role is to act like a shield. She was just hilarious.

ANIMATION AND STYLE

Bla bla bla...animation was great...bla bla bla...so was the style. I seriously started hating this section. I mean it's a 2016 anime...what do you expect. It doesn't have anything special I could talk about so let's move on and finish this review.

CONCLUSION

For those of you out there that just want a leisure day and do nothing expect watching a hilarious and entertaining anime, KonoSuba is an anime for you. The mash of a hilarious, parody setting, incapable, clumsy and funny characters and a pinch of non-sense in the story made this anime so amazing and entertaining that you just have to watch it.

These Were My First 5 Anime as the Anime Girl

When I was a kid, I used to watch a lot anime without even knowing what they actually were. Or better said, where they were from because all the cartoons I watched at that time were in German. But a couple of years ago, on recommendation of a very good friend of mine, I started watching Naruto and became a Full-Time-Anime-Girl, or how the world would call it-an Otaku. With all this set, welcome Minna-san to another post here on World of Anime Girl. Today's topic, the first five anime I watched as a full time Anime Girl. Enjoy!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As mentioned in the beginning, the first anime I watched and so the anime that got me into the anime world was NARUTO. And even though there might be anime I like more and that are better than it, Naruto is still my, let's say, dearest anime of all. I could rewatch some episodes and arcs over and over again without getting bored of it. It is just that one anime that you love despite all it flaws and its huge number of filler episodes.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't quite remember the order I watched the next anime but I know for sure that they were among the first five. One of them was definitely the psycho, thriller with our favorite yandere character-MIRAI NIKKI. You have to imagine, me, a 15-year-old girl just getting into anime, watching an anime like this one. It was quite creepy and I still wasn't used to all the brutality and bloodshed. Not to talk about scary yandere characters. Still, Mirai Nikki became one of my favorite anime. I don't say it is a really good one but it was entertaining.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Next in the line is STRIKE THE BLOOD. Yes, the anime got its second season last year and No, I am not gonna watch it. You see, when I was an anime beginner I didn't know what things like shounen, seinen ment and I definitely didn't know the meaning of ecchi. I really am not a fan of it and I don't judge you guys who actually like that, but that made the anime less enjoyable. Not to mention the "No, Senpai, this is our fight" quote that drove me crazy. I cannot really say that I regret watching it but it is clearly not on my recommendation list.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This anime is one of my favorites because of various reasons. It have to admit it is not the best anime of all, but exactly like Naruto, I just love it. KAZE NO STIGMA was an anime I decided to watch because of the powers which were based on the four elements. The story was intriguing and funny. It had a lot of action and amazing fights in it. The main characters were both strong and their relationship was extremely entertaining, him being a cool guy and her being a strong yet feminine tsundere character. On the whole, it was a nice anime, perfect for anime beginners like I was.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And last but not least, GULITY CROWN. Even though this anime has many haters being a Code Geass rip-off in some parts, it still has a high popularity on MAL. I have to say that, for whatever the reason may be, I liked it. It was really entertaining, the story was intriguing and catchy, the characters showed diversity and development and despite some minor plot holes it was really enjoyable. And I have to mention the music in this anime was outstanding. From the opening over the soundtracks to the ending theme song, they were all outstanding. My personal favorite was the song Euterpe and I still listen to the song every here and there.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So Minna, these were my first anime I watched as the Anime Girl. I definitely want to know the anime you watched in the beginning so let me know in the comments bellow. Sayounara!!

Deadman Wonderland: ANIME REVIEW

Hello there Minna,
You know, I've never been a huge fan of too much brutality in anime but I do love the action...And despite being full of brutal fights and bloodshed, this anime nailed it. After years of being on my 'plan-to-watch-list' I finally watched Deadman Wonderland. I guess I need to mention that I finished all 12 episodes at once and right after finishing this review, I'll read the manga too. So, without any further ado, let's get to the review. Enjoy!

PLOT AND STORY LINE 📜

Deadman Wonderlan is a 2011 anime based on a manga with the same title. Just as I did in the beginning, you would think that a 12-episode-long anime cannot have a good story line. That is mostly correct, because a story just hardly develops  within just 12 episodes. Still I was really surprised to see that Deadman Wonderland is an exception. Now, the anime does not have an extremely good story with a proper moral but one thing is for sure. Deadman Wonderland is entertainment pure.

The story follows Igarashi Ganta-an ordinary 14-year-old boy whose life turns upside down when a mysterious man in red massacres his whole class including his best friends Mimi and Yamakatsu. Just after waking up in hospital, being the lone survivor, Ganta gets accused of murdering the hiss whole class.  Charged guilty and sentenced to death, Ganta is taken to the only private prison in Japan-Deadman Wonderland. The special thing about this 'Wonderland' is that it's a prison amusement park where the convicts perform dangerous acts in order to amuse the visitors.

And so begins the story of Igarashi Ganta. A boy who is wrongly accused now fights for his life in dangerous prison games, for his pride following only his own rules and his name, that will be cleared once he finds the Red Man. I don't want to reveal much of the story, but be prepared for some amazing powers and epic fights throughout the whole show.

Action is definitely the best thing about this anime but it also has something else. I cannot clearly say what it is but it was definitely the reason that made me watch the whole thing in one day.  The story is thrilling, exciting and unpredictable. All that with a couple of plot twists that made the anime even more entertaining.

And just as I said in the beginning, if you look for a great story you wont find it here. Don't get me wrong. The story is good and really moving from time to time but it doesn't have a great moral. Still, you'll definitely find an extremely intriguing story with no major plot holes  and a high level of entertainment. I sad no major plot holes, because there were some tiny parts of the story that I'd like to know more about but were left out. Still, Deadman Wonderland's story continues in the manga and maybe it would be revealed in another season but I don't think a second season will ever come. I mean, it's been six years since the first season aired so...😞

CHARACTERS 👩👦

For a really short anime like this, the characters are really well developed. There are so many different and unique characters with a lot background stories. Seriously, I have no idea how they managed to put all that in only 12 episodes.
When it comes to the main character, Ganta, he undergoes a huge character development. And despite being weak and pathetic in some parts, he actually manages to find himself and become stronger. He decides not to be ruled by others and makes his own path following his own rules. He is a stubborn boy, with a lot determination and hope.
The female lead, Shiro, is a mysterious albino girl that Ganta met on his first day in prison. Even though she is the same age as Ganta, she behaves as a child but has enormous physical strength and great combat skills. With only a skin-tight bodysuit on, Shiro stands out among the other prisoners due to her bizarre appearance and mannerisms.  But despite her innocent looks, Shiro has a big secret regarding her background but as always...NO spoilers! 😉

ANIMATION AND STYLE 💻✨

And again, the animation becomes my favorite part of an anime. Manglobe studios and Kodakawa Shouten did an incredible job when it comes to animation and style. It was flawless, just as any other animation should be. I would really like to talk more about it but I seriously don't know what to say since it was...well, perfect.

CONCLUSION 👆❌👇

If you have some free time and just want to watch a relaxing yet thrilling anime with a huge entertainment factor then Deadman Wonderland is an anime for you. A great anime that managed to deliver a good and entertaining story, great character development and amazing animation in only 12 episodes. This anime is high on my recommendation list for every action, horror, Sci-Fi lover and now if you'd excuse me, I have a manga to read.

Anime Battle (Akatsuki no Yona vs. Arslan Senki)

Konninchiwa Minna-san and welcome to another Anime Battle blog post here on World of Anime Girl. As you can see from the title, the two anime competing today are Akatsuki no Yona aka. Yona of the Dawn and Arslan Senki or The Heroic Legend of Arslan. I picked these two because I have already written about their similarities in a post before: What if: ANIME CROSSOVERS (which you can see on the right)  and because I really love both of them. Yona, which is a studio Pierrot production has MAL rating of 8.23 whereas Arslan Senki is produced by a not so well known studio, SANZIGEN with a rating of 7.88. Both are action, adventure, fantasy anime with a bit comedy in Akatsuki no Yona and some pinch of history in Arslan Senki. With all the main information set, let's get to the details.

Plot and Story Line

Let's say, ladies first. Akatsuki no Yona follows young princess Yona. A naive 16-year-old princess that lived a happy and luxurious life in the peaceful kingdom of Kouka. One night, her life turns into a nightmare after her beloved cousin Su-Won murders her father and forces her to flee from the castle with her best friend and bodyguard Son-Hak. Soon, Yona realizes that her Kingdom is not as idyllic as it seemed, being plagued by poverty and corruption. Yona sets off on a dangerous adventure to save her kingdom guided solely by an old and mysterious legend.
Arslan Senki is set in the Pars Empire ruled by King Andragoras III. The story starts as, young Arslan, the prince of Pars, sets out to prove his valor to his father in the battle between the Parsian Empire and the kingdom of Lusitania. But after the king is betrayed by one of his closest officials, the Parsian army gets defeated and the capital of Pars, Ecbatana seized. With a defeated army and the Lusitanians out for his head, Arslan is forced to run away together with respected army general Daryun. Arslan and Daryun start their journey in search for allies that will help him take back his home.

Now, both stories are extremely intriguing and have amazing settings. When it comes to the backgrounds, Yona's story has more fantasy in it because it is based on an old legend. It is so well done how the legend actually affects Yona's life and her mission. And even though the story looks like a tale from a children's book, it get's quite serious because Yona starts dealing with her own weak and naive self and the kingdom's problems like corruption, prostitution, drug trade etc. The story has a lot emotional but also romantic and humorous moments and some really good fight scenes.

Arslan Senki on the other hand has a serious setting throughout the whole anime and has more drama woven into the story. Also, Arslan's story has a lot elements of intrigue that caused some major plot-twist in the story. Without that much romance in the beginning, one thing is for sure there, a bromance like no other. I must admit, I found the bromance between Arslan and Daryun quite funny from time to time.

On the whole, Akatsuki no Yona has it all, an intriguing setting, romance, humor, drama...Arslan Senki is more serious and complex but in the end I would say that Yona is the front runner for now!

Characters

Let's firstly analyse the main characters. Yona is a naive, weak princess that undergoes an immense character development already in the first season. Arslan on the other hand is the oh so perfect prince that needs help every here and there. And even after two seasons he goes trough minimal character development. Still he is a very determinate and optimistic one.

When talking about the right hand of the main characters, Son-Hak and Daryun we have a cute romance on one side and a very committed bromance on the other. I have to admit I didn't like Daryun that much. He kinda has that Saber complex where he has to act in a moral way in every situation. But I do love Son-Hak, charismatic as he is, carrying the title 'Thunder Beast'. And for the side characters, in Akatsuki no Yona, you get to know every one of them  because they all have their own side story. I didn't see that much in Arslan Senki even though the side characters are really unique and interesting.  With all this said, I think we know who won this round-Akatsuki no Yona

Animation and Style

I guess we have a tie here. Arslan Senki produced in 2015 and Akatsuki no Yona in 2014, both anime have amazing animation and a beautiful style. The settings are breathtaking and I really can't say which one was better. In addition to that, I have to comment the unique character design of both anime.

Conclusion

I think that we all know the winner of this battle considering the previous 3 rounds. AKATSUKI NO YONA. In the end, I do have to admit that I couldn't stay that much objective in this battle because Akatsuki no Yona is one of my favorite anime ever. Still I cannot say that I don't love Arslan Senki beacuse it is a truly amazing anime.
In the end, the only thing that the winner, Akatsuki no Yona lacks is a second season but thankfully, the anime is a manga adaptation which is currently airing.
