FAIRY TAIL 528: Manga Discussion

I think it was about time. I was thinking about doing this for some time now, but never actually get the chance. Since I don't watch many currently airing anime to discuss each new episode, I decided to do manga discussions. From now on, visit World of Anime Girl each week and take a glance at the currently airing manga I am reading which would be: Fairy Tail, Akatsuki no Yona, ReLIFE and Boruto (if the manga continues that is). And the first chapter to be discussed today, Fairy Tail chapter 528: "Evil Dragon". Enjoy!

***SPOILER ALERT***

After a long and emotional fight with her mother Erza and Wandy encounter their next enemy, but this time it is not someone they hope to be able to defeat. In front of them, Acnologia, who is enjoying in stomping on Eileen's (Erza's mother) dead body. Soon, he figures that Wendy is a dragon slayer and he starts to attack.
Luckily for the two, Jellal arrives and saves them. However, his attacks seem useless because Acnologia just devours the magic without even getting a scratch. Afterwards, Acnologia transforms into his dragon form and in the act of launching his first attack he gets hit by Christina, the ship of Blue Pegasus.
On the ship, Ichiya introduces the 'key' that could save everyone from Acnologia. Who that is, will be revealed next week in chapter 529: "Teaxcher".

But if you look closely at the image to the right...I think you can see the resemblance to the Heartfilia women. I read several forum discussions and many are thinking that it is no other but Anna Heartfilia, a Heartfila ancestor and Celestial Sprit Mage that lived round 400 years ago. It was Anna that helped Zeref send Natsu and the other Dragon slayers to the future and it was her that knit Natsu's scarf. I, as many others, believe that she managed to travel trough time and come to the future in order to save the world from Acnologia.
Now I want to ask you. Who so you think is the 'key' that we see on the last page pf chapter 528? Do you believe it is Anna or someone else? Tell me in the comments below and see you next week with a brand new discussion on chapter 529: "Teacher".

Thank you, NARUTO UZUMAKI

"I am Uzumaki Naruto. I like cup ramen. But I like ramen at Ichiraku that Iruka-sensei bough for me even more. I hate the three minutes that I have to wait after I put in the hot water. My hobby is to eat and compare cup ramens! And my dream is to become greater than the Hokages! I'm going to make all the villagers recognize my existence."
Well Naruto, you did it.

I have been thinking about doing this post for some time now, yet I decided to write it after episode 500. Yes, Naruto Shippuden ended after 500 episodes on March 23, 2017. Well it wouldn't be Naruto if the anime didn't end with filler episodes, yet it was really emotional. I must admit, I found it a bit poor but it still made me almost cry in a couple of moments. Okay, I did cry after Naruto asked Iruka-sensei to attend his wedding as his father. It was so emotional and moving, connecting the first and the last episode in such a way.
Nevertheless, I am not doing an episode discussion here but some kind of character discussion. Today's post is solely devoted to Naruto Uzumaki as a character and a legend, that actually affected me and my personality.

I guess many might call me crazy or at least think that it is strange how an animated character can affect someone, but it did. And although it sounds a bit cliche, Naruto is not just a character. A complex personality along with a moving story and background is actually associated with that name. Naruto was just a little boy that had been left alone in the world. And even tough he had the right to hate the whole world, he didn't. His strong will and the power to believe pushed him forward and he never though of giving up. That is the first thing that Naruto taught me: "DATEBAYO!" or "BELIEVE IT!".

Secondly and more importantly, was how Naruto actually always believed in the good of people. There have been so many opponents, so many villains, yet Naruto always tried to break their hatred by getting to know them. He was naive, but even at times he knew that some people were bad or had bad intentions, he never gave up on them. That is exactly why I love Naruto so much. It is not because he is so strong, or because he is the main character, it is because Masashi Kishimoto based Naruto's personality on the same philosophy that I follow. It is the philosophy of always believing in the good of people. And despite the fact that they might be mean and evil to the core, we still believe that we can influence them by being good to them. That's the philosophy I follow. That's my ninja way.

My thanks firstly go to the man that brought such a character into my life, Masashi Kishimoto. You are, without any doubt, one of the greatest story-tellers ever. You are the very soul of the manga and the anime and so the soul  of every single character. Thank you for all these years, for all the action, the amazing fights, all the laughs, the tears, the emotional moments, the love, the anticipation, the entertainment, the excitement and even the fillers. I have no doubt that Boruto will be just awesome as Naruto.

Naruto, I'll make it short. Thank you for making me believe and teaching me to follow my own ninja way.  You came into my life as STORY, but left as a LEGEND.  Thanks for being a part of it. You'll be missed.

SPRING 2017 Anime Preview

I just hope I am not late for this one. It is March 25 and the air is full of spring vibes. The sun is finally shining, the weather is great, birds are singing yet all the anime community is waiting for is the SPRING 2017 season to start. And after taking a glance at the anime that are coming up this April, I must admit that I am quite optimistic and extremely excited. There are a couple of long anticipated second seasons, some new generations and much more. Now let's dig in into some of the anime of the SPRING 2017 SEASON. Enjoy!

SHINGEKI NO KYOJIN 2 (ATTACK ON TITAN 2)

Four years. It's been four years since the first season aired and Wit Studios along with Production I.G finally decided to make a second season of Attack on Titan. I have to admit that I am not such a great AoT fan, but I know how anticipated it was so I couldn't leave it out of this post. I'll probably watch it some time but not right away. The PV trailer looks promising. I see the usual AoT animation, new characters, some old ones, the brutality and of course the disgusting titans. Seeing them again makes me wanna reconsider my decision of giving it a try.

RELEASE DATE: April 1st
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ZERO KARA HAJIMERU MAHOU NO SHO

This one got me on mahou. I love magic, fantasy and adventure anime and this one has it all. It is a story about a witch that has to find her magic book and a half beast that dreams of being a human. The PV trailer looks amazing and I am really looking forward to it. I hope that it doesn't have much connection with Re:ZEro Kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu except for the similar title and the studio (White Fox). Still, I see the same amazing animation and style which migh be good.

RELEASE DATE: April 10th
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ALICE TO ZOUROKU (ALICE & ZOUROKU)

I am pretty sure that this will be the sweetest anime of the season. The story follows little Sana, a girl holding the power called "Alice's Dream", an ability that allows her to create anything she imagines. After escaping the laboratory where she had been hold as a test subject, Sana finds her self in the unknown 'normal' world where she encounters Zouroku. Question is, what will the old man do with the little girl. The animation style, that I've seen from the PV doesn't look that great but I am sure that the story will be entertaining, extremely funny and moving at the same time. Looking forward to it.

RELEASE DATE: April 2nd
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

CLOCKWORK PLANET

The Earth as we know today has ceased to exist (how original...), but it gets better. The Earth dies but one engineer manages to revive it by using only gears and clockwork. Thousand years later, student and machine lover Naoto finds a strange box in his apartment that crushed trough the roof. Inside of it, a female automaton that he manages to fix. I personally think that the setting is really interesting and the plot promises a lot of action and Sci-Fi. I am so gonna watch this one especially because I saw amazing animation in the PV trailer.

RELEASE DATE: April 7th
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

BORUTO: NARUTO NEXT GENERATIONS

And the most anticipated anime of the season, for me at least. Naruto Shippuden finished a couple of days ago but fortunately for all fans out there his son is taking over the screens. The PV trailer doesn't actually tell us much about the anime, but whoever watched Boruto: Naruto the Movie can imagine how it will be like. A very talented ninja son that craves the attention of his father, the 7th Hokage. I also read the beginning of the manga and it really looks good. Just as Boruto says: "This isn't a story of a boy aspiring to be hokage. That was my dad's story. Make no mistakes. THIS IS MY STORY". And I am sure that it will be just amazing as Naruto's was.

RELEASE DATE: April 5th

Anime Personality Quizzes You Have to Take

Konnichiwa Minna-san,
I hope you all feel the spring vibes just as I do sitting outside, enjoying the sun and of course writing a new post here on World of Anime Girl. I guess you are all familiar with today's topic and that you have at least done it once in your life. Online Quizzes.  I have done a couple of anime personality quizzes because they are interesting, funny and I don't know, I guess I am just too curious even when it comes to myself. For today, I picked a couple of funny quizzes I really want to share with you. So, let's get started and don't forget to post your results in the comments bellow. I am looking forward to it!

*to do the quiz click on the underlined subtitles of each*

WHAT ANIME HAIR COLOR FITS YOU?

Okey, you totally have to do this quiz. I have already  talked about the hair color symbolism that most anime refer to in previous blog posts. Black hair means mysterious, Red energetic, White innocent, Blue wise etc. When I did the quizz I got PINK as my result. According to that I am a benevolent, feminine, youthful, cheerful, cute, orderly and gullible person which, to be honest, actually describes me. Click on the subtitle above and do the quiz to find out what hair color would you have, if you were in the anime world.
This one is a must for every Fairy Tail fan. I already talked about this in a previous blog post too, about anime powers. The topic was: If you had any anime power, what would it be? (Here the link for the post). My answer was of course magic. Magic like the magic from the Fate series or from Fairy Tail. That's why I did the quiz mentioned above and my result was: REQUIP, the power of Erza Scarlet. I was really happy about that result considering the fact that she is my favorite character from the anime. What power would you have? Find out.

WHAT TYPE OF DERE ARE YOU?

This one is also very precise. Even though I thought that I'd get Tsundere as my result, I actually got a 'dere' type I never heard of, DEREDERE. Still, it does describe my personality being entirely sweet and energetic person that, even if something goes wrong, just gets right back up and becomes the usual cheerful self. And one short notice, guys can also do this quiz, it is not just for girls.

WHO WOULD BE YOUR ANIME BEST FRIEND?

Now this is a funny one. Who in the anime world would be your best friend and why? And guess, I actually got LIGHT YAGAMI as my anime BFF. The result says: We are both intelligent and see the world from a different point of view compared to others. How cool is that. You really have to do this one!

WHAT IS YOUR JAPANESE NAME?

This quiz was interesting because it puts you into different scenarios where you decide on what to do. My result was SUZUME, which means Nature when translated into English. it says: I love the outdoors and have a green thumb and animals of all kind love me (partially true). I space out sometimes but am probably artistically tallented (which is true).

So, these are my five recommendations on anime personality quizzes that you can do for fun. If you did some interesting quizzes share them here with us and also don't forget to tell me the results of you do any of these. This would be all for today and see you soon! Ja-na!

My Top 5 Favorite Anime Powers

Action and fantasy have always been my favorite two anime genres because they are entertaining, thrilling and exciting. Seeing many action and fantasy anime, I watched many different supernatural and fantasy powers. And with many, I mean a huge amount. From magic and summoning to random esper powers and today's post is devoted to the best 5 and My Top 5 Favorite Anime Powers. Enjoy!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

No.5 BLOOD CONTROL (Deadman Wonderland)

I know this might not be one of the most epic powers in the anime world, but I really enjoyed watching this one. The best thing about this power is how every user actually adapts to it and creates his or her own fighting style. The style on the other hand is a thing of personality that is reflected in the way the user fights and uses his power. A power you always have there when you need it, kinda practical. Before watching Deadman Wonderland I actually thought that it might be disgusting, watching so much blood. But the makers really did a good job and the battles really looked epic. Not to mention the last fight in the manga...but no spoilers.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

No.4 KONAN'S PAPER JUTSU (Naruto)

I have allready talked about Konan's powers in the previous Character Spotlight (If you want to read more about her and her power follow this link). This is with great extend my favorite Naruto power because it is so unique. I mean, Naruto is full of amazing and different powers, but Konan developed hers from her passion for origami. Her paper jutsu is beautiful in first place and just looks cool. Seeing her fight and all the different techniques that she developed is epic. The most amazing one is how she actually turns herself into thousands of paper sheets. Also, Konan is one of the strongest characters in the series making even Obito have a thug time.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

No.3 ERZA'S REQUIP (Fairy Tail)

I think you can guess that Erza is along with Mavis my favorite female character from the Fairy Tail series. Still Mavis' power is just half as epic as Erza's. Requip is such an amazing and epic power that made me watch some of Erza's fights all over again. In addition to that, Erza is a bad-ass woman and a true warrior. Requip fits her personality and covers up her one weakness-the fear of not being able to save the ones closest to her. Seeing her change from one armor to another was always incredible and entertaining as hell. At this point I want to share my sadness with you because the manga is in its final volume. *feels*.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

No. 2 SERAPHIM/ SHEPHERD POWERS (Tales of Zestiria the X)

One of my favorite currently airing anime, Tales of Zestiria the X got me with its fantasy setting, beautiful animation and amazing powers. The Seraph-Shepherd powers in the anime are so intriguing because they actually have a story and one of my favorites because they follow and ancient myth, a legend. Since Avatar: The Last Airbender I have been in love with powers that involve the four elements fire, water, air and earth. In Tales of Zestiria the X  Seraphim carry those powers and kinda give them over to the Shepherd that purifies demons. My favorite two seraphim were Mikleo and Laylah, the water and fire seraphim. The powers in this anime were so beautifully done and I just hope that we will see more anime like this.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

No.1 SERVANT SUMMONING (Fate Series)

And we are at the first place. I always say, the Fate anime have the best settings I have ever seen. The whole story about the Holy Grail War, the Servants and the magic is just amazing. In addition to that great stories and beautiful animation made the Fate series even more enjoyable. The power of summoning 7 different servant classes got me right in the beginning and just by reading what it was all about I became an instant fan. The fights are all incredible and extremely entertaining, especially the fact that they summon spirits from the past such as King Arthur, Alexander the Great, Gilgamesh etc. Gilgamesh is definitely my favorite servant of all despite being a jerk throughout the whole series.
Today's winner: The Servant Summoning powers of the Fate Series.

HONORABLE MENTIONS:
-Alchemy (Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood)
-Dragoon Powers (Akatsuki no Yona)
-Techno Magic (An Irregular at Magic High School)
-Ghoul Powers (Tokyo Ghoul)
-Classical Magic (Tokyo Ravens)

So, this is it for today. I hope you liked today's Top 5 and be sure to tell me your favorite anime power. If you want to see more Top 5 lists from the Anime Girl, check them out under this link. See ya next time!

The Shocking Hidden Message in "Spirited Away"

It's been some time since I wanted to write a post on this topic. We all know Studio Ghibli's Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi or the English title Spirited Away. I was a kid when I firstly watched it and I watched it in German. Yes, in German and its title was Chihiros Reise ins Zauberland. An Academy Award winning animated movie by the king of anime Hayao Miyazaki about a little girl that gets lost in a strange world and her only wish is to find her parents. But cute, little childhood story has a much more deeper meaning than you all thought. The story behind the story. The truth about Spirited Away. It is a really heavy topic so I'd kindly ask kids under 15 to skip this post.

THE BATH HOUSE

I guess that barely anyone noticed the sign above the bath house door that Chihiro worked in for a while. The sign ゆ  is a hiragana symbol that, when translated to English, means 'hot water'.  You think "Ah, makes sense" since it is a bath house...Right? That is true, but the real meaning behind this takes us back to 17-19th century Japan known as the Edo-period. At that time, bath houses were nothing else but places visited by men that would get sexual favors from loose women. If you thing that this is not 'proof' enough than let's discuss the main villain of the anime, Yubaba.

YUBABA

You probably remember her, the old, creepy witch that runs the bath house, Yubaba. Now guess what were the brothel madams called in the Edo period. Exactly, they were called Yubaba. What was also normal at that time, when they started to work in such places, the women would change their names and sign over their identities to their madam. That also happens to Chihiro when Yubaba forces her to change her name from Chihiro to Sen.

NO-FACE

Why do you think did No-Face keep offering Chihiro gold and tokens? Why a little girl and not the other women working there. The answer to that question was actually the most shocking information I heard about this movie. The reason for that was that No-Face actually wanted to buy Sen, or more precisely, her virginity.

The worst thing about all this talk is that it is actually true. These are not some guesses, these are facts proven by Miyazaki himself. In interviews, Miyazaki admits that he did all this intentionally:
"I think that the most appropriate way to symbolize today's world is the sex industry. Hasn't Japanese society become like the sex industry?"

Thug words by a man that made our childhood a magical time by giving us masterpieces like Spirited Away. I don't want to say that my childhood is ruined now knowing that Spirited Away is a movie about prostitution and the corruption of children. Still, it had a huge impact on me and made me respect Miyazaki's work even more. It really needs a genius to hide such a heavy topic in a children movie. So next time you watch another Miyazaki movie, think twice about its message, because its story is probably deeper than you thought.
