Four Most Annoying Prejudices About Anime

How many times has it happend to you? You mention anime and there in the corner sits the typical hater and says something like: "Anime? Are you kidding me? Why do you watch that?". And when I say typical hater I mean that person that talks bad about stuff even though he/she has never tried or watched it before.
This post is devoted to all those who have prejudices about or even hate what we otaku love so much without knowing what it actually is. Welcome to ANIME 101: Today I'll be explaining four of the most annoying cliche prejudices about anime. I hope you enjoy and learn something at the same time. 📖

First of all, guess what is the first thing every non-anime watcher asks. Of course, Aren't you too old to watch anime? Anime is for kids. So let's clear this out right in the beginning. No, anime is not just for kids. True, there are many anime that are aimed at that age-group including the ones we all watched as kids. Examples are of course Pokemon, Digimon Adventures, Case Closed, Yu-gi-oh etc. Thing is, even though anime are animated it doesn't mean that they are cannot be serious. I guess most of the kids are not interested in mysteries, horror or seinen anime and there are many fantasy and Sci-Fi anime with a mature setting. Besides, there are a lot of anime that are age restricted, most of them because of the brutality and there are also well...adult anime with provocatively content. Point is, just like every other TV show that exists, anime is just animated with a broad range of content from childish to mature.

Another question I get a lot as the Anime Girl. How many episodes of anime are there? Doesn't it get boring watching all the same? Non-anime watching guys, anime is not just one single series. There are thousands of different anime shows in many different genres. Each show has its own story, its own characters, a different plot etc. Anime is just a name for all the animation produced in Japan.

The next statement is a real trigger: Anime is for losers and NEETs. No, not anyone that watches anime is a loser. There are many anime fans (I know, and am one as well) that manage to coordinate or adjust their social, university/school life with the free time in which they watch anime. And if we happen to watch a bit more than usual than it just means we found some extra free time. True, there are some people that literary waste their life and just watch anime or play video-games, but watching anime doesn't make us an instant NEET. Most of us are just humble anime fans so let us be please. Arigato!

And last but not least...I know some anime might have specific content aka. hentai. But not all of us watch that. Besides, there are many, including me that hate it. I really don't care if you do watch heintai, or if you like it, but to the non-anime watchers out there, not all of us anime fans are into that kind of stuff. Not all of us are sick, perverted, waifu-pillow-marrying idiots. And even though many anime might have some fan service, it doesn't mean it is ecchi. It does make a show less enjoyable sometimes but hey...you get used to it.

So these are mine Four Most Annoying Anime Prejudices. Have you heard of more? Tell me in the comments bellow what statement or question annoyed you the most. See you next time!

Youjo Senki (Saga of Tanya the Evil): ANIME REVIEW

We have seen so many gods in anime, right? Well, this anime takes the god-man relationship on a whole new level. The first 2017 anime I am reviewing today is a Military, Action, Magic anime produced by Media Factory and AT-X rated with a 8.21 by the users on My Anime List. According to the rating it must be good...and trust me when I say, it really was. Enjoy my review on Youjo Senki aka. Saga of Tanya the Evil.

PLOT AND STORY LINE  📖

Youjo senki follows little Tanya, a girl whose cute appearance sometimes covers up her evil and ruthless self that got her the nickname "Devil of the Rhine". The 'devil' that resides inside of her body is the soul of a man that was reincarnated as a little girl into a world of magical warfare. In the moment of his death, the man meets 'Being-X', the self-proclaimed, God that wants to convince the man into believing in GOD. He of course refuses, and so gets reincarnated into a cruel and rough world where he would find his faith. The man, now Tanya, accepts it as a challenge and fights her way trough the world by becoming a magician-soldier and later on a extremely successful major whose war tactics drive the Empire in becoming one of the most powerful nations in Man's history.
The story itself is really interesting and catchy, and the whole 'Cat-and-Mouse' game between Tanya and Being-X gives it more depth and also more entertainment.

What wrapped everything together into an amazing story was definitely its setting. After the reincarnation the man was sent to the beginning of the 20th century, into the poverty and the harsh life that marked the years before the first world war. Of course, it is a alternate version of Europe at that time with 'Germany' as the Empire, 'France' as the Republic etc.
Now what breaks all the ordinary and mainstream military genre of the anime was definitely the bit of magic and sci-fi. It is some kind of techno-magic that was fused with the weaponry that each country was using.  The only pity of this anime was that they didn't do more with that magic. All the weapons were based on one and the same concept but as I always say, at least they didn't make giant robots.

The action and the fights are also outstanding. Very thrilling and exciting always following a tactic but with many elements of surprise. The star of most fights was clearly Tanya. Her crazy and daring self put her in a lot of dangerous situations but she of course always found a way out of it.
On the whole, you have an extremely entertaining and thrilling military action with a couple of really good plot twists, no plot-holes, a bit of magic for the fantasy fans and of course an absolutely interesting setting for history fans.

CHARACTERS 👩👦

When it comes to the characters, I firstly want to mention the outstanding character design. They all look so amazing, especially the main characters such as Tanya, Viktoriya, Hans, Erich and so on. Clearly distinguishable from characters of other anime, yet when it comes to personalities I can't say that they were really good. Of course, the lead character is an exception given the most attention in the anime. Tanya's wit, cleverness, ruthlessness and a bit of madness were kinda refreshing and gave the anime that little extra. The other characters were also good. They had some really unique personalities and they were actually given character, but I didn't see much development in any of them. The only character I saw evolving was Viktoriya Serebryakova. She started as a bit weak and scared official but later on became a really brave and strong lieutedant. The only thing I don't get are her eyes. All the other eyes look normal but hers are big and blue and look really creepy.

ANIMATION AND STYLE 💻🎨

This was definitely heaven for my eyes. As mentioned, amazing character design. amazing animation, outstanding backgrounds, flawless fight sequences...I cannot name one thing regarding animationa and style that wasn't good. Well welcome to 2017 I guess. There is no bad animation in 2017. The only thing that can go wrong here is a bad, boring style and design which is not the case in Youjo Senki. In one word: FLAWLESS.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

CONCLUSION 👆❌👇

I didn't watch many Winter 2017 anime, but I certainly will and I am even more sure that after all I'll still be thinking that Youjo Senki is one of the best anime of the season. It has an extremely interesting story, an amazing setting, entertaining characters and a flawless animation. This anime has something for everyone and I'd really like to know if there was someone disappointed about it.

Anime Battle (A Blessing to This Wonderful World vs. Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?)

Greetings Minna-san,
Guess what's up today...Well I guess you see from the title...Welcome to another Anime Battle here on World of Anime Girl. As always, I'll be your host, Anime Girl and I hope you'll enjoy today's battle. Make sure to leave your thoughts in the comments bellow, don't be shy. For those of you who don't know what I am doing here here is a short intro. Anime Battle is kind of a section here on my blog, where I pick two anime, that seem similar with the topic and discuss them in three rounds Plot and Story Line, Characters and Animation. In the end I pick one winner according to the previous rounds. I have already done a couple of them and if you want to see them click THIS LINK. Now, without further ado, ring free for A Blessing to This Wonderful World aka. Kono Subarashii ni Shukufuko (Link to Review) VS. Is it Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? aka Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru (Link to Review)

PLOT AND STORY LINE

Let's see...KonoSuba is a comedy, adventure, fantasy anime of 2016 that follows our protagonist Kazuma. After dying on a pathetic death the NEET finds himself sitting in front the beautiful goddess Aqua. Aqua gives him two options: to go straight to heaven or to reincarnate into a fantasy world where he'd get the chance to go on adventures and fight evil monsters. Being a shut-in gamer Kazuma picks the second option and drags Aqua along with him. Unfortunately, he realizes that his dream might not come true because the fantasy world is all but perfect. At least he has Aqua with him.

On the other side, we have again a adventure, fantasy and romance anime produced in 2015 that goes by the name Dungeon ni (I am not writing the whole thing). The main protagonist Bell, is a very optimistic young adventurer that makes a living by selling crystals he gets by defeating monsters in the dungeon. He is the one and only member of the Hestia family, formed by the goddess Hestia.

Now, when it comes to the story, they do have a couple of common points because they have one and the same setting-the MMO fantasy-game like background. The only points they differ from each other, KonoSuba is a comedy anime while Dungeon ni is more of a romance anime. KonoSuba is a parody on the core, and a very good one. I don't actually find comedy anime that funny but KonoSuba was hilarious. Dungeon ni had some funny-ish moments but concentrated more on the cute romance. Despite that, Konosuba doesn't have a great story that it follows whereas Dungeon ni has a really interesting one especially after the plot twist in the end (which is horrible because there still isn't a second season).
In conclusion, it is really hard to tell which one wins this round because I also take the level of entertainment into account. When it comes to that Konosuba was a little bit more entertaining but Dungeon ni certainly  had a better story to offer. I guess we'll have a TIE here.  (1:1)

CHARACTERS

The thing they have in common when it comes to characters is that the characters of neither anime have any depth in their personalities. Yet, KonoSuba did a little bit better job making each character unique and interesting in its own way. Just as I said in my KonoSuba review: you have a NEET Japanese guy reincarnated in a fantasy world, a useless and overly selfish goddess, a quite perverted and clumsy version of Saber from Fate and a little girl obsessed with huge explosions. Dungeon ni has good but ordinary characters, nothing special about them. So this round clearly goes to KONOSUBA.

ANIMATION AND STYLE

I really wasn't sure about this one, but after thinking a bit more about it...I think Dungeon ni takes the lead here. The animation of both anime is pretty much the same being really really good but I still think that Dungeon ni did a bit better job because of its style. It is the character and background design that I remember being really good and that was the thing that decided this round. DUNGEON NI catches up by winning this round.

CONCLUSION

We have a TIE! True that KonoSuba is a bit more entertaining due to the comedy factor but if you are looking for a little bit more depth in a story then Dungeon ni is an anime for you. Nevertheless, both anime are worth your time and that is exactly why this anime battle ends with a TIE!
See you in the next battle! 😜

My Thoughts on TALES OF ZESTIRIA THE X (2017)

Greetings Minna-san and welcome to the first review of the Winter 2017 season. I did not watch and I actually didn't plan to watch many anime form that season because I personally didin't see many shows that would interest me. The only ones I want to give a chance are Youjo Senki (Tha Saga of Tanja the Evil) and the second season of Ao no Exorcist (The Blue Exorcist).
For today, I have some kind of shorter review on Tales of Zestiria the X 2017. Since I already did a review on the first season, which was just continued in 2017, I'll just share my thoughts on this one. Here is the link for the review of the first season and without further ado, let's get into it. Enjoy!

So, first thing that I have to say about this season of Tales of Zestiria the X is how much depth it actually has in the story. The story gets much more serious and you actually feel everything whats happening. Especially the story of Rose and her background. It really gave her character some personality and a really good character development. But despite that it also got a little bit...how can I say, annoying. I still love Tales of Zestiria because of all the magic, the powers, the setting etc...but I honestly feel that I actually outgrew it. It is more an anime for teens, kinda 12 +. I definitely find it boring in some parts and the constant "We can do it with the power of friendship" thing is a little bit annoying. Besides, trough the whole anime they think of how hard the next fight is gonna be, but when it comes, they actually have no problems or setbacks at all. It is really predictable and you know for sure the outcome of every situation. The last episode was definitely interesting and I am really looking forward to the next one.

Yeah, despite all the negative aspects of the anime I am still going to watch it till the end because the story it self is interesting and catchy. We also find out more about the Lord of Calamity, his origins, Velvet Crowe, the actual origin of calamity etc. It really goes back to the core of everything and gets really intriguing.
On the whole, when it comes to the story and plot of the anime, it is far better then the first season.  There are more things going on and is just more entertaining. I do have mixed feelings about this anime, but I still love it for all the positive reasons I mentioned before.

When it comes to the characters, they basically stayed the same, except for Rose. I really loved her character development. As for Alisha...now she is a badass female lead. This is the kind of princess you don't see in Disney but only in anime. She has a strong personality, she is a true warrior and an excellent leader. The way she fought for her kingdom was really emotional and entertaining at the same time. If you ask me, that was, with great extend, my favorite part of the anime so far.

Still the best thing about Tales of Zestiria the X remains its animation. Seriously, if I didn't like Tales of Zestiria, I'd probably still watch it just because of its animation. Ufotable did a great job again just as I expected of them.
So in conclusion, if you truly are a fan of magic, powers and legends then you might like Tales of Zestiria the X. An amazing animation, great character design and also a catchy opening theme will definitely cover up some of the setbacks of the show making it a bit more enjoyable.  Otherwise, if you are at age 12+ till 16 you'll definitely love it.

NO GAME NO LIFE Gets Anime Movie This Summer

New update on NO GAME NO LIFE!

After the announcement of the movie No Game No Life Zero the team was of course present at the Kodakawa booth on AnimeJapan 2017 in Tokyo just this weekend. In short, the PV Trailer was screened for the first time and with that they also revealed the official release date, which is set for July, 15th 2017.

The story of the movie is again set in the gaming world of Disboard, where each conflict is solved, well trough games. 6 thousand years ago there existed two siblings, Shiro and Sora that were undefeated in every game they played and so fought the great war of eternity 'tearing heavens apart and killing starts'. The legends about Shiro and Sora was kept up until now but the story that wasn't told before  is about to be revealed.

The PV trailer (link here) looks promising. The story sounds really interesting and I definitely can't wait to watch it. What's also important to mentioned is the breathtaking animation and style that makes No Game No Life so unique. Down bellow you have some screenshots from the PV. I hope you are as excited as I am because NGNL was an amazing 2014 anime and I am sure that this movie will be just as amazing as the show was. Will you be watching?

BORUTO Chapter 11: Manga Discussion

Greetings Minna-san,
The first Boruto episode is just 15 days away and I seriously can't wait to watch it. Today, as a monthly release, the first chapter of the second Boruto manga arc came out and of course, I read it immediately.

The first arc, that was somewhat covered in the movie, ended with a great twist that promises much excitement in the chapters to follow. After defeating Momoshiki his ghost appears before Boruto and remarks his bloodline of Senju mixed with Hyuuga making an ominous prophecy for the blue-eyed-kid:
"Those blue eyes of yours will one day take everything away form you...for once you have killed a god, you'll never be the same again."
It is later revealed that he leaves Boruto with a curse mark on his palm.
Chapter 11, begins with a new mission for Konohamaru's team. Sarada, Boruto and Mitsuki must catch three thieves that robbed a bank in the village.  Of course, Boruto is not all in it, still thinking about the talk he had with Sasuke before he left. Sasuke was also able to see Momoshiki's ghost that appered afterwards and told Boruto to inform him if something strange starts happening regarding his curse mark.
After the mission, Boruto get's a call from Konohamaru-sensei for another mission, though Boruto is not that excited about it. Since the Feudal Lord of the Land of Fire is in town to attend a very important ceremony, Boruto is charge to be the bodyguard of his way too annoying son.
My thoughts of this chapter? First of all, I love Sarada. She is a strong and extremely clever young ninja that kinda inherited the best attributes of each of her parents. I can't wait to see more of her.
As for the story development, I am so excited. The manga stars off with an intriguing prophecy that definitely caught every readers attention.  A mystery right in the beginning. Also, I am really interested to know what is so special about Boruto's bloodline being a Senju-Hyuuga mix. There are so many questions, so many theories and I just can't wait for the next chapter to be released. The only thing I hate about the manga is the fact that it is a monthly release. Well, we'll have to wait I guess.
What do you think about the manga so far and what do you expect from the anime? Let me know in the comments bellow and stay tuned for more discussions here on World of Anime Gril. See ya!
