The Worst Anime I Have Ever Seen

Greetings everybody and welcome to another post here on World of Anime Girl. As the title suggests, today I'll be talking about the three worst anime I have ever seen. I actually wanted to make this a Top 5 post, but in the end I couldn't find 5 anime that were that bad to become a part of this list. I guess it's because I don't watch every anime that I come across. I firstly check out its rating, the studio, maybe some reviews and the genre and then decide whether I'll watch it or not.
As for these three, I can't say that they were that bad, but I definitely regret spending my time on watching them. Also I would never recommend you to watch these, because as said, they would just be a waste of time. And now, here are the three worst anime I have ever watched.

AJIN

This anime wasn't actually that bad, but I hate it because it was such a Tokyo Ghoul rip-off. I couldn't believe that the makers made the rip-off that obvious. Some of the 'similarities' may include:
  1. The looks of the main character
  2. His nerdy personality
  3. Main character suddenly getting special, monster-like abilities
  4. The blonde best friend
  5. The old man with his eyes always closed who wants to help him
  6. The special governmental agency that hunts down the monster like creatures...
The list goes on. I just couldn't wait to finish the anime just to write my review/rant on it. But even though I didn't like Ajin at all, I have to say that it isn't such a bad anime. It has the action and an interesting setting but I couldn't stand the annoying main character and the bad CG animation. In short, I really didn't like Ajin and it definitely is one of the worst anime I have seen. But it gets worse.

KEKKAI SENSEN

I don't even remember what this one was about. I just know that it was a non-sense story that wasn't going anywhere. Most of the anime was confusing, probably because of all the plot holes and it had such a boring main character. The one good thing I do remember though was its animation. It was amazing, I can't deny that. But the rest...I don't know. I really consider it a waste of my time.

TOKYO ESP

May I present you the worst anime I have ever seen. Tokyo ESP is such a non-sense anime. There is nothing left to say, just total non-sense. There is a girl and suddenly there were gold fish swimming around the city that gave people powers. Freaking gold fish! Why? And then came the bad guys (out of nowhere) and, and...what? Despite a few action scenes, the rest of the anime was crap. Just as its MAL rating, the entertainment factor of this show is extremely low. I'll never get over the fact that I spent at least 5 hours of my life on this show. It was a total disaster.

So, this would be it for today. I really thought that I would have more anime to add to this list, but non other anime was actually that bad to be a part of it. There might have been some more that I didn't like that much, but I just couldn't add them to this post. Have you seen any of these three? If yes, tell me what you think about them. Also, what is the absolutely worst anime that you have seen? Let me know in the comments bellow and make sure to come back again to the World of Anime Girl.
See ya!

KonoSuba is Getting a New Anime Project

I hope you are as excited about this as I am. During the KonoSuba radio program on Hibiki Radio the voice actors Jun Fukushima (Kazuma) and Rie Takahashi (Megumin) announced a new anime project for Natsume Akatsuki's Kono Subarashii Sekai Ni Shukufuku Wo! aka. KonoSuba- God's Blessing on this Wonderful World.

Still, the format of the upcoming anime project hasn't been revealed yet. The first anime season was aired in January, 2016 followed by an OVA episode in June. In the beginning of 2017 we got a second anime season and one more OVA episode just this summer. The makers really are keeping us on tenterhooks here not revealing whether it will be a third season, another OVA or maybe even a movie. A KonoSuba movie would be grand, but whatever it turns out to be in the end I'll be happy to see more KonoSuba in this wonderful anime world.

For those of you who haven't seen KonoSuba yet, should really check it out. It is one of the funniest and most entertaining anime I have ever seen and is also one of my favorites.
After a pathetic death in a car accident, the shut-in NEET Kazuma is given the chance to reincarnate in a fantasy world and continue his life there. Being able to take one thing with him he choses the goddess Aqua whom he just met in the afterlife. But the fantasy world wasn't as fantastic as he hoped it would be. Instead of living the life of a great adventurer, Kazuma is obliged to do hard work in order to survive.
Many might think that KonoSuba is yet another 'Isekai' anime, which he is, but I see it as a parody on all the other 'teleported-to-another-word/fantasy' anime. Exactly that feature is what makes KonoSuba so amazing and hilarious. For more details on the anime, click on THIS LINK to read my full review on it.
So what do you think will it be? A new season, another OVA or maybe even a movie? Leave your thoughts in the comments bellow!

FAQ: Does Good Anime Exist Anymore?

One thing I have been having a problem with recently is finding any good anime shows to watch. Looking at all the anime that aired this year, I could hardly pick seven really good anime that are definitely worth watching: Ao no Exorcist (second season), KonoSuba (second season), Youjo Senki, Shingeki no Kyojin (second season), Boku no Hero Academia (second season), Boruto and Fate/ Apocrypha. There were a couple of other good or rather popular anime that the community was hyped about but I have a major problem with most of them: they are either ecchi anime and I can't stand ecchi or they are just full of annoying fan-service.
I understand that nowadays it's really hard to come up with fresh, unique ideas but do you seriously need to cover that lack of ingenuity with fan-service, or cute girls? Oh yeah, I forgot cute girls aka. the Kyoto Animation thing. I don't know if you checked it out, a couple of weeks ago, there has been a poll conducted in Japan asking what have been the 100 best anime shows in anime history. And most of the top 20 places were moe anime. What can I say, the Japanese love their cute girls.
But despite all that I still see some positive outcome in recent years, especially in the shounen genre.
Now that Naruto is finished, one of the places in the shounen spotlight has been freed, and who would  be a better successor than Naruto's own son. Boruto is a promising show that has a lot of potential, in my though, and after only 20 episodes, I can already say that I am a fan. Even the author of the original series, Masashi Kishimoto, said that Boruto will be even better than Naruto. I will trust Kishimoto and his team while looking forward to a new episode every Wednesday.

But the greatest spotlight in the shounen genre has been given to a newcomer in the anime world. Based on the manga written by Horikoshi Kouhei this anime has been a boom in the community and everyone has been hyped about it ever since. Even though I hesitated watching it in the beginning (for reasons I cannot remember now) I knew that Boku no Hero Academia is a great show. After just three episodes I became an instant fan and I'll probably stay one until the end. Boku no Hero Academia is fresh, entertaining, exciting and emotional, in short, it has all the things that make an anime a masterpiece. It is still unclear whether we'll see a long running anime adaptation (I hope it will come to that) but at least we'll still have an amazing manga to read.

There have been many discussions about stuff like, whether there still exists good anime, or is anime becoming worse with the years. I can definitely say that  anime is not the same anymore. I haven't seen much older anime (older than 2004, I just don't like the animation) so I can't say whether fan service, or ecchi anime were popular even then, but it has become a normal thing today in anime, and I don't like that. Still, as long as there is at least one or two really good anime shows airing in each season, I'll be happy. Unfortunately, anime is more and more becoming just a medium to increase the popularity and sales of the original work (mostly manga and novels), so we'll probably have to rely on those in the future. But despite that, I am optimistic that there will be more amazing anime in the future. Fingers crossed.

Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun (My Little Monster): ANIME REVIEW

Scrolling down the Shoujo genre on My Anime List, I stumbled upon a rather interesting show from 2012. The slice-of-life/shoujo/school anime promised a cute romance and good comedy in 13 episodes. Question is, did the anime actually hold on to the things it promised? "My Little Monster" is quite unusual for an anime title but as such, it clearly caught my attention. Now, without further ado, the review to Tonari no Kaibutsku-kun. Enjoy!

STUDIO: Brain's Base
GENRE: Romance, Comedy, Shoujo, Slice-of-life, School
EPISODES: 13
LINKS: MY ANIME LIST | PV TRAILER

PLOT AND STORY LINE 📜

Most of the shoujo anime we know involve one shy and socially awkward character on one, and a popular and outgoing character on the other side of the romance. But what happens if neither of the characters is socially awkward nor shy, but still don't have any friends because of their 'special' behavior? Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun gives the answer in a fresh anime atmosphere that really shows that the producers tried to make a different shoujo show.
In the middle of the story we have Mizutani Shizuku, a rather apathetic girl who cares about one thing only-her grades. But her cold nature would soon start to fade after she meets the violent troublemaker Yoshida Haru. Much to her surprise, there is a lot more to Haru than just his violent behavior, which she would eventually find out after the two become really close.
Even though Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun differs from other shoujo anime in terms of characters, other elements are still present. So, you get for example, not one, but two love triangles involving the main characters in only 13 episodes. Which brings us to the next point-the ROMANCE.

When it comes to that, it is like TNKK committed a serious crime in the shoujo world by putting a clear love confession right in the beginning. I know, shocking right? To think that a shoujo anime character would confess his/her feelings right in the beginning and so omit confusion and awkward moments between the two main characters, is absolutely barbaric (*meme material*). Kidding, even though one side of the romance is clear, the other one gets pretty confused not knowing what to do with the new feelings and so ruins all the potential the show actually had.
From there on, the show literary goes nowhere. The main story line gets all messed up, the romance part slowly fades as the main characters grow further apart and all that leads to a unfinished story that had the chance to hit it big. I don't know what happens in the manga later on, but they could've at least made a decent season finale. In this way we are literary left with nothing.

On thing that Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun did extremely good, is the comedy. Haru is an extremely funny  character and all he does is just hilarious. So, you might not enjoy the story and the romance of the anime that much, but it is perfect if you just want to chill and have a good laugh.

CHARACTERS 👦👩

Just as it happens in a lot of the other shoujo anime, most of the characters in Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun have superficial personality and a minimum of (or even non) character development. Just the two mains, Shizuku and Haru had more depth in their personalities and some detail in character, but the rest is just...meh. Asako was the annoying side-kick, Kenji the pitiful side-kick, Yuuzan (Haru's brother)who was about to put some drama in the anime but nothing actually happened in the end, and there was Sasahara, who literary showes up every here and there but doesn't actually contribute to the story. I was also annoyed by Shizuku so I won't be talking about her, but I did love Haru. As said, he is a hilarious character that contributed the most to the comedy factor of the anime. He also doesn't get any character development but I like him just the way he is.

ANIMATION AND STYLE 🎨💻

In short, the animation was quite satisfactory and enjoyable to watch but it was the style of the anime that made it look this good. Especially the detail in the character design like hair and eyes and the backgrounds were so amazingly done. I certainly loved it and thumbs up for that.

CONCLUSION  📌

Despite having the potential to be an amazing anime different form other shoujo shows, Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun remains an average show whose story literary goes nowhere. No story development also means no development for many of the superficial characters. Still, TNKK had an ace up its sleeve and it was the main character of the anime-Haru. He was the reason I actually liked the show and the reason why most of us might actually enjoy it. I wouldn't recommend it, but it is still a fine anime that won't be a waste of your time if you actually gave it a shot.

JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken: Stardust Crusaders: ANIME REVIEW

Hey everyone, my name is Victor and I'm the creator of the website www.animedecoy.com. I enjoy watching anime, and writing about anime when I feel compelled to. Thank you to Lejla for allowing me to write on her amazing anime website, I love it when anime bloggers work together.

Today I'm going to be writing about the ever so popular, JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken: Stardust Crusaders, or better known as, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders. I figure that I might as well talk about both seasons of Stardust Crusaders since the second seasons starts and finishes off where the first season ends. If you haven't seen the first season of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, I'd recommend you watch it or else this post won't be as comprehensive.

Just a bit about the first season before I start - I just did not enjoy the first season of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure as much as everyone else did. I didn't get it to be honest, it was an okay action/adventure anime with action packed one verses one scenes of super macho men fighting, but meh.. The introduction of hamon later on in the first season was underwhelming - not interesting at all.

Having said that, going into Stardust Crusaders I was thinking, "oh God, if it's more of this fighting with hamon.. I can't." And boy was I wrong. After finishing the last episode of the Stardust Crusaders saga, I found myself craving for more Jojo (which is why I'm watching Diamond is Unbreakable right now).

At the end of the first season we were given an interesting cliffhanger that would lead us into Stardust Crusaders, and that was the chest Dio was held in being reeled up from the bottom of the sea. Stardust Crusaders follows a much older Joseph Joestar, along with his grandson Jotaro Kujo, and allies: Kakyouin, Polnareff, Avdol and Iggy, as they travel to Egypt to once and for all taken down Dio, who has been a conflict of interest within the Josestar family lineage.

Now what makes Stardust Crusaders so much better than the first season of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is the introduction of "stands." Stands are spiritual energy that can be manifested by a stand user - basically its an awesome summoning jutsu that's capable of kicking ass (shoutout to Naruto). Stands sound not as interesting in my words, but you have to watch it in person to understand why they're so epic, they take fighting to a whole new level.

That's pretty much it for what the story is about, Stardust Crusaders is heavily episodic and the main heroes pretty much fight one stand enemy from episode to episode until they reach Dio. Which sounds boring but in actuality it's not, some of the stands are extremely creative and will draw you in as you're watching.

The main characters are also entertaining to watch themselves... well most of them. To sum up each one of the main characters: laid back Jotaro, messy Joseph, intellectual Kakyouin, protective Avdol, and tsundere Iggy. Oh, I forgot about Polnareff - this one worked on my last nerve, he will make you roll your eyes if you decide to start the Jojo saga.

What I enjoyed about watching Stardust Crusaders was how carefully crafted the story was, it made me like the first season a lot more after finishing Stardust Crusaders. It's a generational anime series, so elements from the first season will tie into the next season. And it's these little details that are so instrumental to the plot that tie the story together so well as we're introduced to a new generation in the Josestar lineage. Currently I'm on the part four of Jojo (Diamond is Unbreakable), and there are elements from Stardust Crusaders that play a big role in Diamond is Unbreakable, like the bow and arrow Enya had in Stardust Crusaders. It's very satisfying to watch details like this being woven into the next adaptation on top of the crazy new stands being introduced.

Hirohiko Araki, who created JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, did an amazing job with the story. I really makes me want to read the manga since it might take a while before we see part five of the Jojo franchise being adapted.

That's it for this review on Stardust Crusaders, thanks again to Lejla for allowing me to write on your blog, I hope you continue to write for the long run!

Nejimaki Seirei Senki: Tenkyou no Alderamin: ANIME REVIEW

"Laziness is the mother of human progress."
-Ikta Solork

With this said I welcome you to another post here on World of Anime Girl. It is time for a new anime review and the quote your read just above is one of my favorites from the show I'll be reviewing today. Being a light novel adaptation and a studio Madhouse production it will probably stay at one season, with an unfinished story. Still, that one season was surprisingly enough to turn me into a great fan of Najomaki Seirei Senki: Tenkyou no Alderamin or in English, Alderamin on the Sky. Enjoy!

STUDIO: Madhouse
GENRE: Action, Adventure, Military, Fantasy
EPISODES: 13

PLOT AND STORY LINE 📜

I seriously expected another average military, action story about teenagers that we have seen so many times before in anime like: God Eter, Owari no Seraph, Balck Bullet, Schwarzesmarken etc. But as I said in the beginning, I was positively surprised by the story that was both intriguing and entertaining.

First of all, it is a very simple story. The plot revolves around Ikta Solork, a lazy yet very clever womanizer that detests war above anything else. But after his country, the Katjvarna Empire, attacks the Republic of Kioka, his world is thrown into chaos as he becomes obligated to join the war as one of the officials. Soon enough, his comrades would realize Ikta's intellect and talent as a leader, never imagining that he would actually be the hero that everyone needed.     Now that I think more about it, the story it self is definitely nothing special, but it was still good. The first reason for that was definitely the main character who contributed the most to the entertainment factor. It was his wit and his war tactics that made the anime so interesting to watch.            In addition to that, each, let's say, story arc is somehow connected to Ikta's past. So the side stories are also vital parts that drive the plot into an intriguing and in many parts really emotional story that keeps your attention until the very end. And it is then where we stumble upon a real problem. Don't misunderstand, the end of the anime was definitely its highlight and the most exciting part, but the fact that it ended with an enormous cliffhanger is the real problem here. The part of the story that we see in the anime is just the tip of the iceberg, whereas everything that's coming after that is the real thing.
The anime was nothing more than an introduction to the setting and the characters in the show. I haven't read any spoilers on the story that follows the anime, but I think  that it will definitely evolve into an even greater story than before.
Lastly, there is one more thing that I actually want to tackle in this review and it is the relationship between Ikta and his best friend and the female lead of the show, Igsem Yatorishino, or just Yatori. The whole anime might be about the war between the Katjavarna Empire and Republic of Kioka but its very core is without any doubt the friendship of Ikta and Yatori. The anime begins with the two and each event in the end ties back to them. I haven't read any spoilers on the novel so far but I am certain that the story will end in a very emotional finale that will involve their friendship.

On the whole, the story might not sound like much, but it is without any doubt intriguing, exciting, entertaining and emotional until the very end. I got actually so interested in the story that I am planning on reading the novel, if I find a decent English translation that is.

CHARACTERS 👦👩

Just as I mention before, Ikta Solork is the main reason why I found this show so good. His character represents a very complex personality of someone that looks like a careless, happy-go-lucky person on the outside, but is actually very well aware of his surroundings and extremely clever. Ikta is a womanizer but is also someone that would sacrifice him self for the ones closest to him. Also he is one of the wittiest anime characters I've seen, amusing us trough out the whole show. When it comes to the other characters, I must say that they mostly have some superficial personalities without much involvement in the story. The only exception there would be Yatori. Her character has been given more detail in the personality and is so a vital part of the story. Still, when it comes to my overall opinion on the characters I wasn't disappointed, especially because I didn't expect much to begin with.

ANIMATION AND STYLE 💻🎨

The story and the characters could have been a bit better, but the animation was on point. Well, as expected from a Madhouse anime, right? I also liked the character design and the design of the very setting: the ancient country look, the way they dressed, the different regions/tribes etc. The only thing that kinda bothered me where the lips. I don't know why, but all the characters had strange lips that always stood so out. I can't say exactly what was wrong, but it was definitely strange. If you watched the anime, let me know in the comments below whether you noticed it or not.

CONCLUSION 📌

The best way to watch an anime is not to expect a masterpiece. I really thought that Nejimaki Seirei Senki would be another average military anime, but I was positively surprised with an intriguing and exciting story, interesting and amusing characters and a great animation. This anime might not be a masterpiece but it certainly deserves another season (which will probably never come).

Now if you would excuse me, there is a light novel that I want to read.

The MADHOUSE Curse: Why is Madhouse Never Making a Second Anime Season?

Even though I said in one of my previous posts that I'll never watch a Madhouse anime again...I did. And guess what. The anime again ends halfway, unfinished, with no second season in sight. Some people in the community call it the Madhouse course, but trust me, it actually doesn't have anything to do with  the studio, and here's all why:

Madhouse is the STUDIO, not the PRODUCER

Many of us (I do too), mainly look at the studio that made the anime, we don't care much about the producers, right? I mean, the studio is the one that kinda brings the idea, the story and the screenplay into life, but it is the production or even the author of the original material that decide whether an anime gets a second season or not. Anime studios are nothing but contractors that, once picked by the producer, are given the budget money for the anime and then they are free to start.
Now that we know that it is the producer's responsibility for not making a second season, why are they not making one? Well, there are two main reasons: MONEY and MARKETING

The main reason for mass entertainment production has always been and will be, MONEY. Studios often make their money by splitting the Blu-ray and DVD profits with the distributor who's on the committee, like Madhouse does for instance with Pony Canyon. That also works with merchandisers too, if a PVC figure uses the anime design created by the studio. That still makes low income which is why studios mostly try to save money by hiring freelancers and working on multiple series in one season. Bigger studios like Sunrise and Kyoto Animation often have their representative in the production committee. In that way, they can invest their own money in a show, creating a bigger profit for themselves.

That is the reason why many shows don't get a second season-they juts don't make enough profit. But what about shows like High School of the Dead and No Game No Life for example, they are both extremely popular shows? That is true, for the west. Both HSOTD and NGNL are extremely popular anime, but in Japan HSOTD was a total flop whereas NGNL did a bit better, but still didn't make enough money. Same thing happened to other Madhouse anime like Batooom! and Mahou Sensou.

Now we come to MARKETING. True, producers expect to make money with anime, but that is not always the case. It actually happens quite often that anime is produced only to serve as marketing for manga, light and visual novels and games that the anime is based on. Even if the anime flops, just the news that it is being produced results in a huge media coverage and increased awareness of the original work. Simply put, anime is just the best way to increase the sales of the original work. And well, one season of an anime is mostly enough to do that. Many Madhouse anime ended that why such as Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei (light novel), Overlord (ligh novel) and Nejimaki Seirei Senki (light novel) but other anime studios actually do that to: Ao Haru Ride (manga, Production I.G.), Black Bullet (novel, Kinema Citrus), Code: Breaker (manga, Kinema Citrus), Deadman Wonderland (manga, Manglobe) and I'd like to add my favorite anime: Akatsuki no Yona (manga, Studio Pierrot).

To conclude all of this, it is not just Madhouse that's been cursed by the 'One-Season-Witch'. Many anime studios do that, but not because they don't want to, it is because the producers don't. And they on the other hand aren't making sequels because it either a) doesn't make a lot of money or b) serves just as marketing tool for the original work
